THE COMMONS arose in 2010 from the shared aspirations of a diverse group of friends, who believed that Sydney needed another way to drink and dine.
The Commons is an award-winning bar and restaurant serving honest, flavoursome food and quality drinks in a heritage farmhouse in Darlinghurst. DOWNTOWN is a classics bar, located in the 164-year-old larder underneath The Commons dining room. While The Commons brings traditionalism back to food upstairs, Downtown takes you back to the roots of good music and liquor. Our bar menu and music are inspired by the golden age of cocktails, jazz and blues, from the turn of the century until 1950. We offer incredible drinks in an intimate setting, accessible and friendly staff, and the opportunity to learn more about music, your friends and good ol’ drink. You provide your best behaviour and an open mind.
